Our Firm

We work with business owners and executives who want smart litigation strategies that produce successful, yet efficient outcomes. Burford Perry has the flexibility to represent clients ranging from global companies to directors and officers to small and mid-sized businesses and their owners, often including first-generation immigrant entrepreneurs. Our lawyers are known for this: we resolve disputes efficiently through the power of our extraordinary preparation, never overworking or overstaffing a case. Whether that means a quick resolution or trial and appeal, we are ready for it all.

Meet Burford Perry

Founded in 2015, Burford Perry lawyers represent plaintiffs and defendants and can strategically chart a path to the best outcome on either side of the docket. Our lawyers have obtained more than $2 billion in combined verdicts and settlements for plaintiffs, while also helping our defendant clients obtain dismissals, summary judgments and take-nothing judgments where alleged damages exceeded $1 billion.

Because our clients are managing crises every day, they rely on Burford Perry’s sensitivity in handling delicate and controversial issues, as well as our constant availability and responsiveness. We are the firm to address an issue, file an emergency response, answer a burning question or calm their fears so they can get a good night’s rest.

Known for handling high-end cases, often with a crisis at the center

We insist that our lawyers understand our clients’ goals and how their businesses work. Regardless of the subject matter of a case or the industry our client serves, Burford Perry lawyers work to understand the drivers of our clients’ business models so we can assess the upside and downside of suing – and the reputation and business interruption risks when being sued. We are adept at assessing risks and the variables that increase or decrease our clients’ exposure to those risks.

We are never afraid to go to trial when it’s the best business move for our client. Sometimes, however, we advise them to settle ––because we know that’s their smartest option for their business success.

A business mindset that makes a difference in the outcomes

Successful entrepreneurs, in-house counsel and executives are always short on time, so they appreciate our efficient, yet comprehensive approach to preparation. Whether the case is an underpayment of royalties, and our job is to sue a large oil and gas company, or we are representing board members and executives in director and officer liability cases, with or without D+O coverage, clients hurriedly give us two facts and it’s our job to know the next ten facts that will make a difference in the success of their case. Our lawyers can do this because we’ve seen it before, and we are not afraid to read the documents — we know where to begin and what to do next. We jump in.

Our extraordinary preparation enables us to resolve disputes early or at trial. We are prepared either way. We don’t out-paper our opponents, we out-prepare them — often in a streamlined way that saves time and money for our clients.

Hire lawyers that have seen it before

Depending on the type of litigation, the out-of-pocket costs can equal or surpass the lawyers’ fees. eDiscovery costs are currently estimated to be 20 to 50 percent of all litigation expenses. Burford Perry routinely handles our own eDiscovery in-house without passing the cost on to clients as a line item. We are always conscious about spending our clients’ money as we would our own, including in our overhead costs that many other firms pass on to clients. Our clients have told us what a remarkable benefit our cost management philosophy is to their bottom line — especially when comparing us to the other firms they hire

We proficiently manage all aspects of litigation – including eDiscovery and third-party costs
