Bringing a passion for serving justice and working diligently on behalf of my clients, I draw on an array of strengths to advance their interests and, ultimately, help enhance their lives. They include strong research and writing skills, the ability to craft novel and effective legal arguments, and the determination to comb through all the nuanced details of a case, which often uncovers its legal linchpin. I enjoy—and understand the importance of—the intersection that connects the complexities of the law with human dynamics.

  • Zachary Carlson handles a range of commercial litigation matters, including disputes that involve breach of fiduciary duties and other business partnership issues, commercial contracts, construction projects and real-estate investments. He maintains direct responsibility for several litigation matters, conducts depositions, assists on trials, argues summary judgments and motions, and writes research-intensive appellate briefs.

Highly regarded for his thorough knowledge of the Texas Uniform Fraudulent Transfers Act (TUFTA), Zachary addresses concerns that arise from this multi-layered legislation as well as those relating to liquidating, rehabilitating, and turnover receivers. Both his rigorous legal training and engineering background help him fully understand the complexities of these and other statutes and how they work as well as the technical components of his clients’ businesses.

Zachary clerked for the Hon. Kevin Ross, a judge on Minnesota’s Court of Appeals. In September 2018, Justice Michael Massengale brought Zachary to Houston for a one-year clerkship. Zachary continued with Justice Richard Hightower of the First Court of Appeals when he took the bench in 2019. This clerkship experience exposed him to a wide array of legal issues, stretching from run-of-the-mill contract disputes to the intricacies of federal and Texas Constitutional Law.

Under the judges’ guidance, Zachary also gained valuable mentoring in research and writing as well as an appreciation for how cases are developed and tried before reaching the appellate courts. He observed oral arguments, participated in post-argument conferences, and recommended case dispositions in draft opinions for the justices. All of this experience enhances Zachary’s ability to serve clients today—with integrity, efficiency and excellence.
